Mr. Nichols has written extensively on Virginia speed laws and defenses. He is a major contributor to this website as well as the author of “The Virginia Reckless Driving Handbook (3rd edition)“.

Mr. Nichols is also known for his technical knowledge regarding speed measuring devices. He is one of the few attorneys in Virginia who has been trained to operate police lidar, moving radar, stationary radar, pacing, and VASCAR according to the national NHTSA law enforcement guidelines. in 2015, Mr. Nichols also completed the NHTSA based Speed Enforcement Instructors Course which in order to be certified as a law enforcement speed enforcement instructor.

Mr. Nichols is also a member of Prince William County bar Association and the Fairfax County Bar Association and he teaches legal seminars on reckless driving, speed enforcement and DUI law.
